2009
June 5,6 & 7

Mr. Tom Boyer of Chalk Creek Boers in Coalville, UT was a guest speaker on Marketing Meat Goats and did a great job of judging the 4H Progress Show.   The 4H'rs learned a lot from him on the strong points of their market animal choices.   Thank you, Mr. Boyer for sharing with us over the weekend.
Dr. Steve Hart... with his awesome southern drawl from Oklahoma's Langston University, shared his knowledge on FAMACHA Parasite Evaluation.  We got the opportunity for some hands on experience out in the barn with some animals that were brought in for evaluation.  Thanks,  Dr. Hart for sharing not only information about FAMACHA, but I know that quit a few breeders asked many questions of you throughout the weekend... and you answered a lot of concerns and questions.
Randy Saner from North Platte (NE Extension Office) showed us the difference between a #1 and a #5 Conditioned Goat.  We recieved some hands on (no pun intended) experience Saturday afternoon, with some great examples of different body condition scored goats.    Which opened the door for Sunday's Goat Show as Mr. Saner was the judge for the show.  The class he taught the day before gave way to a better understanding of how the goats were judged on Sunday.  Thanks Randy  for your part in making the Expo 2009 GREAT!
Les McAlevy (left) from LG Boers in CO, and Ron Helus (right) from Helus Market Goats in CO, discussing the body condition score of the goat at hand.
Round Table Discussion.... (L-R) Greg Floyd, Carrie Boyer, Tom Boyer, Dr. Steve Hart and Randy Saner,  carried a late Saturday afternoon discussion allowing participants to field questions not only to the speakers of the day to to other breeders as well.  This was a very informative, casual atmosphere and a lot was discussed.
